I am 35 years old and thinking about starting a family in the next two years. Can you tell me what are the risks for older women planning a pregnancy?


Answer

There are increasing numbers of women your age and over who have had healthy happy pregnancies. There are some things that need special attention when you are considering a pregnancy at this age.

There is a growing amount of evidence that suggests that "older mothers" are likely to be well established in their careers and relationships and this helps make them very good mothers. There is also some new evidence that the majority of healthy 35-39 year olds will conceive in the usual way within two years.
