Question

I had a miscarriage. It was a planned pregnancy. How long do I have to wait to try again?

Answer

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage - it can be hard to deal with the loss of a pregnancy.

Your normal menstrual cycle should start again after a miscarriage and you could become pregnant again quite quickly.

Usually, there is no reason why you shouldn't try again immediately after a miscarriage.

Some women need a D & C (or curette) after a miscarriage. It is important to wait two weeks before having sex to reduce the chances of an infection after the surgery.
You should also avoid using tampons, have showers rather than baths and avoid swimming following a D & C.

A pregnancy will not implant and grow unless conditions are right. Your body is probably the best judge as to when this will be.
