FAQsQuestionWhat are the possible side effects from the Essure® procedure? Answer Women may report pain, cramping, vaginal spotting/light bleeding, nausea, vomiting or dizziness/light-headedness during or following the procedure, however these are usually short-lived. In the studies of Essure® almost all of the women reported their comfort with the procedure as "good" to "excellent" immediately after the procedure. In one study, 4% described the discomfort during the procedure as severe, the rest as "none" to "mild". (Cooper et al 2003, quoted in Australian Safety & Efficacy Register of New Interventional Procedures, Feb 2004). On leaving the clinic, 81% rated their pain as mild or none. Most women returned to normal activities within 1-2 days after the procedure (Cooper et al 2003). Of course you cannot drive or operate machinery for 24 hours after you have had sedation. |
