FAQs

Question

I am currently breast feeding and would like to have an IUD fitted. When is the best time to get this done?

Answer

IUDs are safe for breast feeding women to use.

If you had a vaginal delivery an IUD can be fitted once your infant is six weeks old.

If you had a caesarean delivery you need to wait 12 weeks. This allows your uterus to heal after the operation.
