FAQsQuestionWe had a condom break last night and I am at a risky time of my cycle. Is there anything that I can do to stop getting pregnant? Answer Yes, you could take the Emergency Pill (ECP), which is sometimes called "the morning after pill." The pre-packaged emergency pills are available in Australia, over the counter, without a prescription at the chemist or pharmacy. The brand names are Levonelle, Postinor 2 and Norlevo. For another version of this ECP see our Fact Sheet under "How do you take it". http://www.fpnsw.org.au/sex-matters/factsheets/76.html If there is no possibility of obtaining the ECP over the counter, some of the pills that are used for everyday contraception can also be used as emergency contraception. But you need to get an anti-nausea medication from your doctor to take with them as they may cause nausea or vomiting. Two doses listed below should be taken with 12 hours between.
