Question

I have acne and am starting the Pill for contraception. Which Pill would help with this?

Answer

All of the combined Pills can improve acne. At Family Planning our first choice is usually one of the less expensive fixed dose (monophasic) pills. Eg Monofeme/Nordette/Microgynon 30/Levlen ED, or Norimin/Brevinor. If there is no improvement in the acne after three months, then we would suggest trying a pill with one of the newer progestogens. (These pills cost more.) See your doctor or give Healthline a ring on 1300 658 886 to talk about these.
