A Book About Birth shows labour and delivery with the baby in uterus in the context of a the mother's body. Illustrations are clearly labelled, and the information, covering the basic concepts of labour and delivery, is written in large text. Where medical terms are used, they are clearly explained, and each page has a section that shows how to pronounce these words.

Designed at the request of expectant parents who want to talk about childbirth with their older children (primary school age and up), this book is also helpful for people with reading and or learning difficulties, and people from non-English speaking backgrounds.

A Book About Birth is based on the Body Talk Birth Charts developed by Family Planning NSW for educators working with groups (see separate listing).
